FPG Reviews Tabletop Games

Game Review | Bugs in the Kitchen

Hey guys! My name is Brandissa and I’m super excited to join Foolish Panda Games focusing on family games! I was raised in a very board game oriented family, in fact, my brother is the guy operating this blog. We’ve always had an entire closet dedicated to nothing but games, and I’m a sucker for the classics: Clue, Scrabble, Life… you name it, I’ve probably played it! The love for the family game night has been passed down to my own little nuclear family because it’s always nice to take a break from the electronics and talk together with minimal distractions. My ultimate goal is to provide you with a nice list of must-have family tabletop games. With Christmas around the corner, games are always a great option when you just aren’t sure what to get for friends and family.

Last Christmas we were gifted an odd looking game called Bugs in the Kitchen – Initially I thought it would be just another game the kids would quickly get bored with and would take up space in my game closet slowly collecting dust. Boy, was I wrong! My family just can’t seem to stop playing it. I really can’t say enough good things about this game. It’s extremely entertaining and will definitely keep everyone’s interest including the really little ones.

The recommended age to play is 6 and up, but my daughter has been enjoying it since she was 3 years old. It’s equally enjoyable for an adult game as well, with or without some bourbon. The game is really easy to assemble and doesn’t have a long time commitment, as it normally takes about 20 minutes to play. With such a short gameplay time, you can easily fit in a game or two before bedtime!

This game isn’t educational but it is a fun dexterity game that helps the kids work on their focusing and strategizing skills. If you are looking for a fun tabletop game that can appeal to children with a nice sized age gap, then this will make a great addition to your game shelf. Of course, I can’t leave without letting my kids have a word about this game!

Desmonster: It’s pretty freaking awesome!

Corasaurus: It’s sooooo coooool! (The O’s have been added for emphasis)

What about you readers? Have you gotten the chance to pick this game up and play it with your family? What is your family currently playing? Are there other aspects to family games you would like for me to cover? Let me know in the comments!
